Upper Township Tee Ball
Rules
*Games consist of three (3) innings or until darkness.
1) BATTING
A) All players bat each inning. Coaches are required to rotate the batting order from game to game.
B) Any player arriving late will be placed at the bottom of the order.
C) All batters will hit off a batting tee. THERE WILL BE NO COACH PITCH.
D) The bench Coach or parent will have the players seated on the bench in the batting order and have players ready to go. There will be no on deck circle or area. Players shall remain on the bench until it is their time to bat.
E) A coach from the batting team shall assist each batter at the plate. The coach shall instruct the hitters in stance and proper swing to hit the baseball. Once the ball is hit into fair territory the batter shall run to first base. Each player is to advance 1 base at a time.
F) No outs will be recorded. For the first four games of the season, all players will run the bases even if a play is made at the base, the runner shall still be considered safe. For the last half of the season, a baserunner against whom the defense successfully executes an out shall return to the dugout; the offensive team shall still bat their entire order, regardless of the number of outs.
G) An inning shall be over when a team has gone thru their lineup. The coach shall announce the last batter in the lineup. This player is permitted to round the bases until they reach home plate. Coaches in the field are to keep the base runners moving until they reach home plate.
2) PITCHING:
There will be NO pitching in this division. All players will hit off a batting tee.
3) STEALING:
The stealing of bases is prohibited.
4) BUNTING:
Bunting is prohibited. All batters will be taught to swing away.
5) PLAYING TIME:
All players will play the field each inning. Players are to be placed in normal baseball positions with the exception of catcher. No player shall be permitted to play catcher. Teams that may have additional players will play an additional outfielder and/or 2 pitchers (1 right side of the mound and 1 left side of the mound). Positions are as follows: 1st base, 2nd base, shortstop, 3rd base, left field, left center field, center field, right center field, right field, right side pitcher's mound and left side pitcher's mound. If a team is short players use 1 pitcher position and fill in infield positions first, then outfield.
6) COACHES:
A) Coaches will act as catcher, base coach and assist in the field.
B) Defensive coach at the mound is there for instruction and will not field any balls.
C) Coaches are to instruct the players where to throw the ball and to assist in teaching the kids to play the position they are assigned. At this age the kids will run after a batted ball no matter the position they are playing.
D) Coaches are to rotate the batting order from game to game in order to give each player a chance to lead off and also bat last.
E) Coaches are to rotate positions inning to inning in order not to have anyone person play the same position back to back innings. This is done to try and keep the interest level up in the kids and keep them involved.
7) GAME TIMES:
Games will start at 6:00 pm on weekdays. The home team has the field 15 minutes prior to the start of the game. The visiting team has the field 30 minutes prior to the start of the game (5:30 -5:45)
8) HELMETS
Helmets must be worn by batters and all runners.
9) SPORTSMANSHIP
At the conclusion of the game, all players will line up along the first and third base lines, then proceed to shake hands.
